WKCTC Clemens Fine Arts Center Stage

Auditions for the outrageously funny Little Shop of Horrors are scheduled for 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday and Tuesday, January 14th and 15th. Prepare a short song and a short comic monologue. The plot of this musical comedy revolves around Seymour, a would-be florist, and a plant he found during a total eclipse of the sun. The unusual plant begins to grow and becomes the main attraction for Mushnik’s failing flower shop. As Audrey II (he names the plant after his lovely co-worker, Audrey) continues to grow, Seymour realizes that it is carnivorous and grows best on human blood which Seymour supplies by pricking his fingers. The hilarity grows and grows as the plant needs more “food” and constantly demands “feed me.” Various customers, media personalities, denizens of skid row, and a demented dentist serve as fodder for the play and the plant. In the end… well, we wouldn’t want to spoil the end now, would we?
The characters are as follows:

Seymour Krelboyne: a clumsy but cute momma’s boy who secretly loves Audrey

Audrey Fulquard: sweet but simple young lady who works in the flower shop

Gravis Mushnik: owner of the flower shop

Crystal, Chiffon, Ronnett: a 60s style girl group (they are part of the action and comment on it)

Orion: a dentist of questionable skill and a passion for “laughing gas”

Derelict: a skid row derelict 

Derelict II: another skid row derelict

Bernstein: a media personality

Skip Snip: A fast-talking talent agent

Mrs. Luce: a newspaper reporter (and wife of the editor)

Customers of the shop: customers of the shop (and “plant food”)

Audrey II (manipulation): a person to operate the carnivorous plant (the “puppet” weighs c. 100 lbs)

Audrey II (voice): the voice of the “plant”

In addition we are looking for someone who is good with remote controlled cars.
