A NOTE TO THE SUPPORTERS

The West Kentucky Community and Technical College Clemens Fine Arts Center requests your support in 2011-12 to once again bring quality performances, exciting artist residencies, exhibitions by nationally recognized artists, and prominent speakers to our region.

From the exciting Ballroom with a Twist to a presentation and dinner with the incomparable Chef Jeff Henderson, who is featured on the Food Network and NBC, plus a concert by CMA nominated artists Thompson Square, this season is sure to be a hit!

The FOCUS Series opens with Ballroom with a Twist.  Also included in this series are Songs of Elvis featuring the Terry Mike Jeffrey Band and musicians that actually played with the King, including original drummer DJ Fontana and pianist Glen D. Hardin, The Official Blues Brothers Revue, and the WKCTC Theatre Department’s spring production of a contemporary play.

Other exciting and innovative offerings include the Backstage Pass Coffeehouse Series with performances featuring local and regional artists and the Campus Series, targeting 18 to 35 year olds, which includes emerging CMA nominated recording artists.  The Keynote Series offers opportunities to participate in activities with Chef Jeff Henderson, songwriting workshops, and our Campus Read, Eli the Good, with an appearance by author Silas House.  The Clemens Gallery will host cutting edge visual art exhibits featuring national artists and Paducah School of Art faculty and students.

While continuing to serve our loyal patrons, we also will work to develop student and community participation at various levels.  WKCTC will offer workshops, seminars, or master classes.  In addition, student activities will include performance opportunities and arts education  activities led by WKCTC faculty and regional artists. Our partnership with The Kentucky Center will continue as we work with at-risk      children to provide arts education.

The Center staff works diligently to fund our programming with ticket revenue, grants and contributions.  Please help us with our goal to make the arts affordable to our community by making your contribution to the Clemens Fine Arts Center!  Your contributions are critical to our continued success.  To subscribe, call Gail Robinson Butler at (270) 534-3213 or Julie Moore at (270) 534-3212.

How to Support the Arts

The Arts in Focus series relies on you to support our work to increase participation in the arts.  Maintaining affordable ticket prices is one of our principal goals.  We believe that attending performing arts events should be accessible and affordable to everyone. The price of an event ticket reflects only a small part of the actual cost of the performance. We look to you and your generous support to bridge the gap. In order to continue award-winning educational activities and excellent entertainment, we need your help.  Please take a moment now to make your contribution.

WHY BECOME A CONTRIBUTOR

You will receive season tickets for preferred seating to Ballroom with a Twist; The Songs of Elvis featuring Terry Mike Jeffrey and two musicians who actually worked with the King; The Official Blues Brothers Revue; America's Hottest Illusionist, Jason Bishop; and Dead Man's Cell Phone.

You will be invited to the Annual Contributor Reception prior to the opening show of the FOCUS season, Ballroom with a Twist, on October 8 at 5:00 PM in the College Bistro.

A portion of your contribution is tax deductible.

You will receive recognition as a contributor in all programs and on our website. Your name will be prominently displayed in the Clemens Lobby Gallery.

Why Support The Programs

In 2011-12, West Kentucky Community and Technical College will present its 44th season of performing and visual arts to the region.  The programs have evolved to include, national tours of diverse professional performers, student and community productions, coffeehouse performances to spotlight local and regional musicians, and a One Book.  The Speaker’s Series, visual arts exhibits, and the Campus Series are other showcased programs.  The College’s commitment to arts education and outreach is evident in our continued presentation of workshops in theatre, dance, and music.  The workshops, taught by professional performing artists, are offered free to students and community members.  We need your support to continue bringing the region affordable, quality arts performances and educational opportunities.
